The purpose of this workshop is help us start (or get back into) writing and to help each of us regain access to our natural creativity.
Bring something to read and you can choose to:
1) Share the writing without response from the rest of the group;
2) Ask the group to give you positive feedback only, i.e. what works well in the piece?
3) Ask the group to critique [NOT criticize!] the writing by giving positive feedback and suggestions for making the writing clearer and/or more effective; or
4) Ask the group members what part of your writing touched or moved them the most.
It will be helpful if you can bring 3 or 4 copies of your writing so that everyone can follow along as you read. (All copies will be returned to you as soon as the group is through critiquing the piece.) If this is a problem for you, don’t worry about it. (The purpose of this group is NOT to promote anxiety but to have fun!)
We will have two short writing exercises taken from Julia Cameron’s book The Artist’s Way for you to do.
This workshop is for individuals living with mental illness and family members. Confidentiality regarding any topic discussed is emphasized, just as it is in the support groups.
